10 RSA cricketers including AB de Villiers might miss the IPL 2020
After the months, Cricket has started in this COVID-19 pandemic. Now the positive news for the Indian cricket fans has come because the IPL 2020 is set to commence from September 19 to November 8.
BCCI has decided to organize the whole tournament in UAE because of raising the COVID-19 cases in India. According to the bio-secure rules, Players have to report in UAE before one month starting the IPL.
Will AB de Villiers and Imran Tahir miss the IPL 2020?
Foreign cricket players have got the no-objection certificate (NOCs) from their respective boards. Newzealand is the first country who have permitted their players to participate in IPL 2020 in UAE. Following Newzealand cricket, RSA has also given NOCs to their players to play in IPL 2020.
Despite giving permission to their players to play in IPL, It is quite possible that IPL 2020 will be played without South African players. Since the cases in South Africa are increasing rapidly. The condition of South Africa in COVID-19 cases is as same as India. 4,20,000 COVID-19 cases and 6000 deaths have confirmed in South Africa.
That’s why the South African government has imposed the lockdown again in the country to control this pandemic. It means even if South African players get the NOCs from CSA, They will unable to leave South African borders Until South African govt relaxes its travel restrictions.
If RSA wouldn’t get the travel access from the South African government, 10 South African players including AB de Villiers and Imran Tahir will be missed the IPL 2020 in UAE.
Here is the 10 RSA cricketers list:
AB de Villiers (RCB), Chris Morris (RCB), Dale Steyn (RCB), Quinton de Kock (Mumbai Indians), Faf du Plessis (CSK), Imran Tahir (CSK), Lungi Ngidi (CSK), Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals), David Miller (Rajasthan Royals) and Hardus Viljoen (Kings XI Punjab).
CSK and RCB affect the most in IPL 2020:
If RSA cricketers miss the IPL 2020 then Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be the most affected teams in the IPL 2020. AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, and Dale Steyn are the key foreign players from RCB. And Duplessis, Imran Tahir, and Lungi Ngidi will be the key factors of CSK in UAE.
In this COVID-19 pandemic, It will be very difficult for the franchises to replace their players as the travel rules of each country will also have to be taken before selecting any player. Although, there is enough time for BCCI before starting the IPL to sort out the travelling problems from the other countries.
