South Africa’s explosive batsman AB De Villiers said he would not create any false hopes for his return to the national team for the T20 World Cup later this year. Ab de Villiers thinks that the T20 World cup may be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The T20 world cup will be held in Australia in October-November this year. Due to coronavirus pandemic, various sports tournaments have already suspended.
According to the newspaper in an African language, Ab De Villiers said, “I can’t think about the upcoming six months. If the tournament had postponed for the next year then the situation would be different. Now, I am considering myself available for the selection but I don’t know How will be my fitness at that time and Will I fit that time?”
He said, “I can reach a particular stage where I will say to Boucher that I wanted to play. I want to play a role for the team but I am not able to play. I am afraid of setting such commitment and false expectations. Devilliers said that I am not entitled to get the direct entry in the team.”
He said, ” If I fit 100% which I want then I will be available. if it doesn’t happen then I am not that kind of guy who will available for selection When I am only 80% fit. Then I will have to show Boucher that I am a good player till now.”
Devilliers said, “They should select me when They think that I am better than any other player. I am not that kind of person who thinks whatever I want as it should happen. The T20 world cup will held in Australia and it can be a good platform for the Ab Devilliers comeback. But He will not want to repeat the same mistakes which he did in the World cup 2019.”
He said, “I am unsure of giving a definitive answer because I was quite hurt in the past. Again, People will think that I turned away from my country. I can’t take my place in the team directly. I will have to work hard to get my place back in the team.”
