Will AB De Villiers do wicketkeeping for RCB in IPL 2020?

IPL 2020 is all set to commence in UAE on September 19. Franchises have reached UAE and started their training for the cash-rich league. During the media interaction, RCB head coach Simon Katich hinted that Ab De Villiers might do the wicketkeeping for RCB in IPL 2020.

During this interaction with Media, Simon Katich spoke how can ab De Villiers play a vital role in the RCB team in the upcoming IPL 2020 season.

RCB head coach Simon Katich said,

“Obviously we’ve had a lot of discussions around the makeup of our team. AB has kept wickets in South Africa before so I’m sure that will be a topic for discussion.

But what is the right balance in these conditions will also come into play. He’s got a huge role to play for us, given the number of performances over the years for RCB and South Africa.”

Though RCB has also signed Australian wicket-keeper batsman Josh Philippe in the IPL 2020 auction who is also the 2nd option for wicket-keeping after Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel.

In 2017, AB De Villiers had said that he was to going to give up wicket-keeping to save himself from the injuries. So that he can extend his cricket career.

Ab de Villiers is an important player in RCB:  

Simon Katich further said about de Villiers, “We know he’s a world-class performer and he’s had a fantastic tournament, where he led his team to a win in the 3TC competition.

He’s coming in confident on the back of that and I’m sure, knowing his love for his franchise and playing with the players at RCB, he’s going to be excited by this prospect. We’ll see what happens with his job behind the stumps and with the bat.”
