In the second ODI of Ban vs SL on Tuesday, Bangladesh defeated Srilanka by 103 runs via the DLS method. Bangladesh comfortably won the 3-match series 2-0. Bangladesh was playing their ninth bilateral series with Srilanka and recorded their maiden bilateral series win over Srilanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim was the superstar of the second ODI as he slammed a brilliant century of 125 runs. With the help of his innings, Bangladesh post 246 runs on the board. However, his heroic knock was overshadowed by his stump-mic comments that went viral on social media.
Mushfiqur Rahim was caught making unpleasant comments behind the stumps. This controversial incident happened in the 11th over when Danushka Gunathilaka and Pathum Nissanka were facing spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Gunathilaka defended the second last ball of the over but Nissanka at non-striker end’s wanted a quick single. However, Hasan dived towards his right inside the crease and pushed the ball towards a fielder to ensure the batsmen didn’t get a single.
“Push him to the ground if he comes in front for a run,” Rahim was heard telling Miraz in his native tongue on the stump mic.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rahim said, “Contributing from the front was great. But I was disappointed not playing the last 11 balls. Mahmudullah batted well and a couple of guys chipped in, and the bowling effort was special tonight. There are areas we can improve. We need to be fearless, but there’s a fine line between fearless and selective cricket.”
“Hopefully our batsmen take a few notes from this game and come back better next match because this isn’t the easiest pitch to bat on,” he concluded.
