Poor umpiring of Nitin Menon cost Kings XI IPL match:
On September 20, 2nd match of IPL was played between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals which was stretched after having a tie, In the nail-biting super over, Delhi Capitals won the match.
In the same match, when Kings XI was batting. It was 18.3 ball, Mayank Aggarwal was on strike and Jordan was on non-striker end. Mayank played the shot through extra cover and ran for two runs but umpire Nitin Menon gave it short-run and only 1 legal run counted.
In the replay, one can clearly see that bat crossed the line and that was not the short-run. Experts believe that the umpire should re-check it from the third umpire because that was a really close call.
Virender Sehwag criticized umpire Nitin Menon:
Virender Sehwag tweeted about it and said: “umpire Nitin Menon should be the man of the match for his decision”.
I don’t agree with the man of the match choice . The umpire who gave this short run should have been man of the match.
Short Run nahin tha. And that was the difference. #DCvKXIP pic.twitter.com/7u7KKJXCLb

People Believe that, if the umpire hasn’t made that mistake than Kings XI Punjab must be won the match and there wouldn’t be any super-over.
Lots of people criticized this poor decision on twitter, Some even said, In the era of technology and HD camera’s how can anyone make this type of mistake in such a big league match.

Harsha Bhogle explained the scenario:
Harsha Bhogle tweeted about it after seeing lots of peoples are having some misunderstanding about the rules of the third umpire. He said, “3rd umpire can not over-rule the on-ground umpire”
As things stand, the 3rd umpire cannot over-rule the on-ground umpire. But in course of time I see every line call being adjudicated off-ground with a trained replay editor, not only the 3rd umpire, watching the output of all the line cameras.
