Sachin and Sehwag talked about Dhoni promotion at no.5 in WC 2011:
In 2011, the Indian cricket team won the Worldcup trophy after 28 long years.
In the WorldCup 2011 final match, India made a big decision of promoting Ms Dhoni at no. 5 instead of Yuvraj Singh. Before the final match, Dhoni scored 150 Runs in 9 Matches. Where Yuvraj Singh 341 Runs in 9 Matches.
Sachin and Sehwag conversation:
Sachin: Yuvraj Singh was playing well in the whole tournament. It is almost clear that Yuvraj will bat on number 5 then Ms Dhoni at 6 and Suresh Raina at 7.
Sehwag: We were confident and we knew if we clear our basics than we can control the situations.
Sachin: Zaheer Khan bowled well and in the seventh over Virender Sehwag took a brilliant catch. Jayawardene played a good knock of 103 runs but we successfully stopped the Srilankan team and got a target of 275 runs.
Sachin: Virat and Gautam were playing well and made a good partnership. And I told Viru if a left-hand batsman(Gautam) got down then left-hand batsman(Yuvraj) should go at no. 5 and if right-hand batsman(Virat) got down then right-hand batsman(Dhoni) should go for batting. Meanwhile, Yuvi was ready to bat at no. 5. Yuvi was batting well but also, Sri Lanka has also two off-spinners that’s where I thought about a change in the strategy.
Sehwag: Sachin’s strategy was good and that troubled Sri Lanka badly.
