Who does not know about the Kargil war? It is one of the biggest battles between India and Pakistan. Pakistan started this war in 1999 and after 3 months India ended this war with victory over Pakistan.

Talking with Pakistan’s ARY News recently, former Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar has revealed that he declined the £ 175,000 contract as he wanted to fight against India in the Kargil war

Shoaib Akhtar said that he was ready to sacrifice his life for his country:

Akhtar added that very few people know that Nottinghamshire had given me a large-scale contract to play in county cricket but I declined his contract for £ 175,000. After this big contract, I declined two more contracts because I wanted to fight against India in the Kargil war.

He said, “I was standing on the outskirts of Lahore. A general asked me what I was doing there. I said that the war was about to start. And we would die together. I left the county [cricket] twice and the counties were shocked. I was not worried about it and called my friends in Kashmir and told them that I am ready to fight.

“When the plane (from India) came and toppled some of our trees, it was a big loss for us. They felled 6-7 trees and we are paying a lot of attention to trees now. I was very hurt about this.”

“When I woke up that day, I was dizzy and my wife told me to calm down. But until the next day when I saw the news, it continued. I know what happened the next day, I’m from Rawalpindi and I know GHQ, “
