Suresh Raina was unhappy with Hotel room:
Chennai Super Kings were shocked when Suresh Raina opted out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons on Saturday. Everyone was eagerly waiting for his come back especially after his retirement from international cricket.
Suresh Raina was the first player who left out from the preparations of IPL 2020 and back at his home. Raina had shared several training camp videos with CSK before reaching UAE for IPL 2020.
There have been many reports coming about raina’s sudden departure from UAE. According to the Dainik Jagran reports, Raina opted out from IPL 2020 due to an attack on Raina’s relative on August 20 in Punjab’s Pathankot.
Now CSK owner N Srinivasan opened up on the issue. He told Outlook that Raina’s sudden departure is quite shocking but Dhoni has controlled the situation now.
According to the reports, Suresh Raina was not happy with the hotel room that was provided when he had arrived UAE. He wanted the similar hotel room that Dhoni has been provided. Raina’s room didn’t have proper balcony.
MS Dhoni couldn’t clear the disputes with Raina and his fear grew more after 13 members of CSK tested COVID-19 positive.
Rift over hotel room the reason behind Suresh Raina’s departure : Srinivasan
Srinivasan said, “Cricketers are like prima donnas.. like the temperamental actors of the olden days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all seniors players have learnt to co-exist.”
“My thinking is that if you are reluctant or not happy, go back. I don’t force anyone to do anything.. sometimes success gets into your head.”
“I spoke to MS (Dhoni) and he has assured me that even if the numbers go up, there was nothing to worry. He spoke to the players through a zoom call and asked them to remain safe. You really don’t know who is a passive carrier,” Srinivasan added.
“The season has not begun yet and Raina will certainly realise what he is missing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 crores per season) he is going to lose.” He further added.
