VIVO Pulls out from IPL 2020 sponsorship:
The IPL 2020 has to start from September 19 in UAE and the final will be played on November 10. Ever since the tensions between India and China has increased, the Indian government is taking strict actions against Chinese products and companies.
On the other side, Vivo is a sponsor of team India and IPL which is also a Chinese company. Now, the focus of Indian fans is shifting towards Vivo sponsorship with BCCI.
Recently, BCCI has retained the VIVO as a sponsor of IPL 2020. BCCI was criticized for this action by Indians.
In the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, IPL franchises are struggling for the revenues and sponsors, the BCCI decided to continue with VIVO as a sponsor because VIVO company pays 440 crores to BCCI every year.
According to the reports of Times of India, VIVO is considering to pull out itself from the sponsorship with BCCI for this year. This report was told by One franchise officials to other franchises.
Now, According to the Times of India, BCCI is not happy with an official. He is spreading news without getting a confirmation from the IPL governing council.
According to the Source,
“Vivo is going to have to exit the league this year and that looks certain now. How that happens is going to depend on how BCCI and Vivo negotiate the matter.
The company (Vivo) has had its own share of issues. And the BCCI has optics to deal with, given the political climate. They have to come to some understanding here because legal options can’t be considered in this case.”
If all this news is true then it will be very difficult for BCCI to find the new sponsor for the IPL 13th season before starting the IPL.
