Team India is going to play 2 series simultaneously in July. The Second-string of Team India will play against Srilanka in the upcoming white ball series. There was a time in the mid-90s when Teams were very excited to play against Superpower Srilanka. Before the 1996 edition of the World Cup, Arc-rivals India and Pakistan had joined forces to play against Srilanka in the solidarity cup.

At a time, When India and Pakistan cricket teams send a strong message by teaming up to play a game of cricket with Sri Lanka at the famous Premadasa Stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Wasim Akram, and Saeed Anwar were the part of India and Pakistan combined XI that squared off against Sri Lanka in 1996 at Colombo.

Sachin Tendulkar helped Wasim Akram take the wicket of Romesh Kaluwitharana:

It was a special and historic moment for both countries. It was the first time in cricket history when two Asian heavyweights countries played together as one team. Match started with a memorable note as Master Blaster Tendulkar assisted pace ace Akram in the dismissal of Romesh Kaluwitharana. Akram was seen giving Tendulkar a tap on the back for taking a sharp catch at the time.

Mohammad Azharuddin was leading the Indo-Pak combined XI. He also used Sachin Tendulkar as a bowler and Tendulkar also didn’t disappoint his captain. He bowled 7 overs and took the wicket of Asanka Gurusinha. Team India legend spinner Anil Kumble was the star player in Indo-Pak XI.

Anil bagged 4 wickets in the match and restricted Srilanka to 168 in 40 overs. Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings with Saeed Anwar and the duo gave a good start to the team.  Tendulkar (36) and Anwar (16) stitched a 53-run stand against The Islanders. Crucial knocks from Azharuddin (32), Ajay Jadeja (28), and Rashid Latif  (21*) powered India and Pakistan XI to a gritty four-wicket win over Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium.
