“If I were the chief selector I would never select Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming T20 world cup 2020”- Kris Srikkanth
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan wasn’t available for the series against West Indies in both T20Is and ODIs because of injury. But now he has been included in the squad for T20Is series against Srilanka.
Shikhar Dhawan‘s position as an opener is in danger after Kl Rahul’s magnificent form in T20s and in ODIs.
Last year, Shikhar Dhawan lost his place from the test team. His place is in doubt as KL Rahul is performing really well and Prithwi Shaw is on the bench.
Srikkanth said, “There is no comparison between Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.”
For the Srilanka series, Dhawan and Rahul have been included as an opener because Rohit Sharma has been given rest for the series.
But former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth thinks that KL Rahul is better than Dhawan. It doesn’t matter how well Dhawan will play in this series.
SrikKanth said that undoubtedly Kl Rahul is the far better choice than Dhawan. He talked in a sports show on star sports Tamil. He also added that if he is the chief selector of the Indian team he will never choose Dhawan for the upcoming T20 world cup. And there is no importance of making runs against a team like Srilanka. There is no comparison between Dhawan and Rahul.
If we talk about Dhawan’s recent performances, he is not up to the mark as an opener. His strike rate is not suitable for T20s standard and in the last 13 outings, he didn’t hit any half-century. On the other hand, if we talk about KL Rahul, he hit 4 half-centuries in his last 9 T20 matches.
